GUJRANWALA, Pakistan: A Christian man from Dhala Sharif, near Nowshera Virkan in District Gujranwala, has been arrested following a blasphemy allegation relating to a video reportedly shared on TikTok.
Amir Masih, son of Emmanuel Masih, was arrested on 11 August 2026 after police registered FIR No. 1189/26 at Police Station Nowshera Virkan under Sections 295-A, 295-C and 298 of the Pakistan Penal Code.
These religious-offence provisions carry severe legal consequences, making the case a matter of serious concern for Amir and his family.
The complaint was submitted by Sajjad Mustafa and supported by Rizwan Ali and Muhammad Ramzan, all reportedly residents of Dhala Sharif.
According to the FIR, the complainants alleged that they were present at Arshad PCO in Dera Chowk at approximately 11:00 a.m. on 10 August when Amir arrived and made remarks they considered religiously offensive.
The complaint also refers to a video allegedly shared through the TikTok account “@amir.khokhar56”. The FIR states that the video contained Christian and Islamic religious imagery accompanied by a Punjabi dialogue that the complainants interpreted as making a religious comparison.
The alleged remarks and dialogue have not been reproduced because they may cause offence and their meaning cannot be assessed fairly without examining the complete video and its original context.
The allegations contained in the FIR have not yet been proven before a court. The registration of a police case does not establish Amir’s guilt, while the complete video, its purpose and Amir’s explanation have not yet been independently verified.
Tension reportedly increased in Dhala Sharif following the accusation, with a group of people allegedly gathering and threatening to damage Amir’s home. Several Christian families temporarily left their homes as a precaution, while Amir’s family was reportedly moved to a safer location and is believed to be safe.
Police responded promptly and remained vigilant in the area, helping to prevent the situation from escalating into violence. According to the information currently available, no member of the local Christian community was physically harmed, and there have been no confirmed reports of widespread destruction of Christian property.
The situation is now reported to be peaceful and under control. Amir remains in police custody as the case proceeds.
