The family of a 14-year-old Christian boy who was allegedly abducted and sexually abused is reportedly being threatened to withdraw its complaint, raising serious concerns for the family’s safety and access to justice.
SHEIKHUPURA, Pakistan — A 14-year-old Christian boy was allegedly lured to a house with an offer of temporary work before being confined, physically assaulted and sexually abused. The child’s identity has been withheld to protect his privacy, safety and dignity.
According to information provided by his family, the boy belongs to a financially struggling household. His father works as a daily-wage gardener, while the teenager reportedly earns around PKR 400 a day at a local street-food stall to help support his family.
On the day of the alleged incident, the stall was closed, and the boy went into the town centre looking for his father. An unidentified man reportedly approached him and offered him PKR 700 to clean a house. As the payment was considerably higher than his usual daily earnings, the boy accepted the work.
The family alleged that the gate was locked after he entered the property. Three individuals were reportedly present, and the child was allegedly restrained, beaten and sexually abused before being confined overnight. He was reportedly released at approximately 5 a.m.
Community members and security guards later helped the child identify the property. Two alleged suspects were apprehended by local residents and handed over to police, while another reportedly escaped.
The family has also raised concerns about an alleged delay in the registration of the First Information Report. In cases involving sexual violence against a child, any delay can affect the timely collection of medical, forensic and other important evidence.
According to the latest information, the family is now reportedly facing threats and pressure to withdraw its complaint. These reports have intensified concerns for their safety and underline the urgent need for protection against intimidation or retaliation.
