Pakistan: Christian Family Finds Justice and Offers Forgiveness

Categories:

In a remarkable display of Christian faith and resilience, a Christian family in Narowal has forgiven the men who violently attacked their home—after the attackers expressed remorse and after the legal process was fully completed. The family’s decision came only once they felt their dignity, safety, and rights had been upheld in court.

The incident took place on the night of 28 October 2025, when armed men forced their way into the home of Adeel Masih, one of only six Christian families living in Village Sidhu. Adeel was beaten severely, dragged from room to room, and threatened with death. His sister Nageen was subjected to gender-based violence as she tried to protect him, while the rest of the family was threatened into silence.

When the police arrived, instead of taking action against the attackers, they attempted to frame Adeel in a false motorcycle theft case. They ignored the family’s injuries, refused to register an FIR, and pressured the family to hand Adeel over for arrest. With threats rising, Adeel went into hiding, and the family feared justice would never be served.

The turning point came when our partner stepped in to support the family. A legal team visited the home, collected evidence, ensured medical examinations were carried out, and filed a petition to compel the police to register the FIR. After sustained legal pressure, the FIR was finally registered, and the attackers were arrested. Lawyers representing the family also ensured that the false theft case against Adeel was dismissed and that the perpetrators were held fully accountable in court..

As the legal process moved forward, village elders, community members, and several influential individuals approached the family, urging reconciliation. The attackers apologised, acknowledged their wrongdoing, and asked for forgiveness. After reflection, prayer, and confident that justice had been done, the family chose to forgive the assailants based on their Christian values.

Their decision reflects not weakness, but a powerful statement of grace—made possible because the truth was established and the legal process respected.

The family has expressed deep gratitude for the timely legal assistance and support they received during this traumatic event, noting that they no longer feel alone. CLAAS-UK remains committed to ensuring that vulnerable Christian families continue to receive support, justice, and protection whenever their rights are violated.
